MEETING NOTICE: May 12, 2009 7:00 p.m.
MAY MEETING LOCATION CHANGE
Hardesty Library will be unavailable for our May 12th meeting due to construction.
The meeting will be at Michael V’s restaurant (8222 E 103rd St) and will start at 7:00.
The room has been reserved for 6:00 for anyone wishing to enjoy the wonderful food.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Not too much to report this month but wanted to remind everyone that MCKC will be holding Canine Good Citizen tests in conjunction with Owasso's Trail Days on Saturday, May 9th. Our services were requested by VCA Owasso Animal Medical Center and the Owasso Humane Society and they are also hosting an Open House and Adopt-A-Thon. Charles & Phyllis Simmons (622-1691 or simmons8243@sbcglobal.net) are in charge of this event. Please contact them about helping with the tests! Should be a fun event and well attended - they had 300 people at an open house last year!
Hopefully we will have some news to report on the June 2010 shows soon!

The MCKC membership wishes to express their condolences to JoEllen Corley. JoEllen lost her husband Ken on May 2, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Corley to American Britney Rescue, 5311 SW 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50315.
April Membership Meeting Minutes – April 14, 2009
The meeting was called to order by President Karen Gibson at 7:05. The minutes were approved as printed in the newsletter.
Presidents Report: The June 2010 for the MCKC show has been secured. The membership received a letter from Tri-State KC and Bartlesville KC asking for permission to hold a show out of their area in Tulsa.
Vice-President: Lori Finlayson gave a report as Show Chairman for the MCKC show in Grove. All went well.
Treasurer – Current checking balance is $20,046.00.
Membership Chairman Charles Simmons read Mike and Donna Bennett’s application and they were voted in as new MCKC members. They are sponsored by Karen Gibson and Lori Finlayson. New applications from Jennifer Block and Anna Vaughn were read. Jennifer is sponsored by Marc Crews and Deby Harber and Anna is sponsored by Lori Finlayson and Jana Davis.
Owasso Trail Days is May 9th and MCKC has been invited by the Owasso Humane Society to have CGC testing available. Contact Charles Simmons if you are able to attend.
The May membership meeting will be at Michael V’s restaurant. The library is unavailable. Fred Bassett will be the speaker at the June meeting.
Unfinished Business – Marc Crews contacted the OKC Kennel Club concerning information about scholarships. He didn’t receive any response and will contact Wichita Kennel Club also.
Lori Finlayson made a motion to offer a $200 scholarship to any junior MCKC member that qualifies for Westminster KC or Eukanuba. The junior must have a 3 point GPA and either be a junior member of MCKC or a child of an MCKC member. Marc Crews seconded the motion and it was passed by the membership.
There was discussion about possibly having a match this fall. Karen Gibson volunteered to be match chair.
