PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The Annual MCKC Awards Banquet & Benefit
(the Benefit a NEW addition this year!) was a big success. We had over 30
members, guests, and honorees in attendance at Michael V's Restaurant.
A big THANK YOU to member Carol Minden and her husband for letting us
hold the event there. We had a private room and could choose from a
wonderful selection of entrees and desserts so everyone could have just what
they wanted. Thanks also to Pam Clifton for making up goodie bags
for everyone in attendance - it was a festive touch. In addition to
honoring 14 Club Member's dogs who earned titles and degrees this past
year, we honored Jay Cronley, writer for the Tulsa World, with
the "It's In The Contract " Community Service Award. This award
references a column by Mr. Cronley in which he wrote that if you own
a dog it's in the contract that if you see a dog in trouble you will
help. We plan to present this award at all future MCKC Banquets to
someone in the community who has worked for the betterment of dogs. Mr.
Cronley was present to receive his award and regaled the audience with some of
his humorous stories. Along with the award the Club donated
$200 to the charity of his choice - Raven's Fund of the Humane Society of
Tulsa which helps senior Tulsans be able to keep their
pets in their homes. The Club also honored OSU Veterinary student
Alicia Davis with a new grooming table & arm for her Kerry Blue
Terrier. Marc Crews met Alicia at the Responsible Dog Owner's Day
event in
Many of you may have seen Club member Bonnie
Parker featured in the weekly Animal House column of the Tulsa
World on January 17th. There was a wonderful photo of Bonnie and three of
her dogs - a Westie and two Scotties - accompanied by a story about their
travels around much of the country. Way to go Bonnie!
The Board is still dealing with the displaced Fall
Cluster. The other two cluster clubs proposed that MCKC hold our
show at the fair grounds this August and they will hold their shows downtown
the same weekend at the Convention Center. Obviously this is a
ridiculous and unworkable idea. These clubs are ignoring
the fact that they cannot hold a show in
