Children’s Art Show at the Dog Show
Once again the Mid-Continent Kennel Club will sponsor an art show for children to be displayed at the fall four day cluster of dog shows. Students in grades K - 12 can compete for prizes in their grade level and different categories. Students should complete their art work on no larger than a 12 by 14 sheet of paper. Teachers will need to matt their student’s work (if you need supplies, please let me know). This year’s theme is to depict “Having Fun with My Dog”. We hope that this might be a great way for you to start your year with a lesson in being a responsible pet owner and depicting their favorite canine.
Prizes will be awarded to: Best Art in Show K-6 Student and Teacher ($50)
Best Art for a T-Shirt Student and Teacher ($25)
Also, for Best Art depicting the following breeds in the Combined Specialty Show:
Chihuahua, Cocker Spaniel, Papillion,
Boxer, Dalmatian, Poodle, Collie, German Shepherd, and Sheltie. (student
prizes only)
Art work needs to be received by Friday, September 19th and delivered to Jenks Middle School, Main Office, just east of Riverside Drive on 101st Street_. Display of Art will be during the Dog Show at the Tulsa Convention October 30th – November 2nd. Additionally, the top 40 art pieces may travel to the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri for a special exhibition in their gallery.
Teachers will be responsible for delivering their student’s art and returning to pick up the art and any prizes after the showing. Ribbons, t-shirts, gift certificates, and cash will be some of the prizes.
Each student and parent must complete, sign, and attach the entry form to their art submission, on the front of the matting.
